The mission of the McDonough County Health Department is to assess the health needs in McDonough County and strive to maximize access to acceptable and appropriate health care, health protection, and health education to meet those needs. With its available resources, the McDonough County Health Department will provide services which are necessary to meet the community health needs.

Internship Opportunities
- The Health Department has internships available in a variety of areas. Internship applicant’s needs are matched with available projects and both the intern and the Health Department benefit. Interns may be from agencies, academic institutions, schools of nursing or others.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Volunteers are a vital part of the Health Department. Volunteers enable us to serve the community more fully. Volunteers assist in a variety of areas, such as, reception, filing, and assisting in clinics. Volunteers are individuals who want to contribute to the community. They may be any age, from youth to retirees. If you can help either occasionally or on a regular basis, we'd like to hear from you.
